NOVEMBER
I know I'm young, but I can't remember an election season that was this big and talked about and well, intense. I love politics (must be the class president in me or maybe it's the competitive sports guy side of me…who knows!) and I totally wish I were old enough to get involved. Since I can't vote, it's been kinda fun to just follow all the developments of the campaigns. I think I can learn from how the candidates conduct themselves on the campaign. It's interesting to see how they handle all the questions and the press. (And I thought our elections at school were intense!) Just a few more days and we'll know who the winner is!
Back at school we're gearing up for the big Book Fair. This is a big event since all the students really enjoy it, and the teachers love it, cuz hey, we're reading AND they're rakin' in the fundraising money. As class president, I'm in charge of helping make sure all the students in my grade know when the Book Fair is. It's a lot of work and a lot of responsibility, but I'm all over it.
OCTOBER
Man, with all those sports goin on last month, I almost forgot about class elections. I started freakin out a little but my friends helped me pull it all together and in the end I was elected class president again! Soccer is goin pretty smoothly this year…so far. Not much to report there. Basically, I am just trying to keep up with everything. What a 180 from summer!
SEPTEMBER
Even though it’s back-to-school time, this is still one of my favorite times of year. About every 4 years we get a crazy end of August…with the Olympics, baseball gearing up for the playoffs, football training camp, the U.S. Open…you can practically watch all sports all the time.
The Olympics rocked this year! Phelps is awesome—guy is a machine! Did you hear he eats like 12,000 calories a day!? and the bball team FINALLY got it together to play like a team. My dad said it reminded him of the "Dream Team" days back in the early 90s. I can’t remember back that far, but it was cool seeing all the best players of the NBA playing together to get the gold for USA.
AUGUST
Summer is officially winding down. By the next time I blog, all the craziness will have begun. Oh man. I’ll admit it…I have moments during the summer where I just don’t know what to do with myself. I wanna just chill but I get antsy. Guess it’s a good thing I got Rec to keep me busy during the day and then all those lazy friends of mine who all slept in all day are up and ready to do something by the time I’m done.
Football practice is gonna kick off in a few weeks and I am so ready. Watch out! cuz I have a feeling that we will be really strong this year.
JULY
The good news is: school is officially out for summer. The bad news? I’m stuck at school every day anyway! Ha But actually, it’s not so bad. I’m working Rec this year (that’s our town’s daily summer camp) and actually, it’s more like the most fun version of school you can imagine. Plus, we get to spend a lot of time outside. I just play all different sorts of games with the younger kids. AND I’m getting a paycheck every week. Booyah!
JUNE
So May Day went off without a hitch and that means I am officially The Man! Haha nah, but I am definitely honing some serious event-planning skills. Anyway, now I can just focus on my studies through the end of the school year.
I’m lovin all the pick up games after school. It’s fun to play without the stress of winning or losing. Oh, and my Dad and I are goin to the lake for some father-son fishing on Father’s DayI’m buying the tackle. It’s one of my favorite traditions.
MAY
Last-minute preparations for May Day are in full swing. I’ve been running all over school and town to make sure everything’s ready. It’s almost all set. Now, all I can do is hope for clear skies on Saturday.
Don’t know what’s up with me lately… I’ve just been soakin’ up all this nice weather by spending time with friends and being outdoors. I’ve been taking it so easy, I don’t have much else to report.
APRIL
Wow, what a basketball season we had this year! Who would have thought that all number one seeds would make it to the Final Four? I was pulling for UNC, so I was bummed when they lost, but it was all good.
Pizza night was awesome. There’s not much to do in March, so we had a really good turnout. Now my attention is on May Day. This is one of the biggest events at our school. It always occurs on the first weekend in May. We’ll have face painting, egg tosses, and of course, dunk tanks. There’s lots of work to do…I better get to it!
MARCH
March is here and you know what that means…march madness! This is basketball’s best month! I hope we have a ton of snow…that means snow days…which means I can keep up with my bracket. Who are you rooting for?
I do have to find some time to plan our next important school fund raiser. This month it’s pizza night! It’s not too intense to plan, but I gotta get everything done so that it goes off without a hitch. Maybe I set the bar a little too high with my New Year’s party…. Now everyone expects nothin’ but the best!
FEBRUARY
New Year’s Eve was awesome! Seriously, I had doubts about my party-planning skills, but it was definitely good times. Zoe and her band were really good. She was nervous…but everyone loved it. My mom helped me make a bunch of appetizers (including eggrolls) that were all gone in a flash. The only bad thing was that I had to clean the whole house before AND after the party. It’s ok tho, cuz it was totally worth it.
DECEMBER
Well, it's all set. This New Year’s Eve is going to be the best ever. I’ve got an awesome band lined up ;) so now all I have to do is figure out what kind of food I’m going to have. I’m thinkin eggrolls!
Our basketball team is awesome this year. Coach says we could definitely make it to the playoffs if we work hard. We’re motivated to break school records and make it the best year yet.
Oh, and it’s time to start planning the spring dance. As class president, I’m in charge. I’m gonna line up some help from the girls because I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to streamers and balloons!
OCTOBER
Soccer season got off to a bit of a bumpy start this year. Soo frustrating…but we’re starting to play as a team, makin’ good plays and even winning some games finally. I think we’ll be able to turn this season around after all. Just takes a lot of work. One of my favorite things is seeing a team come together.
School’s off to a good start. Between homework, soccer, and class president stuff, I’m actually pretty busy. Right now, I’m totally stoked for Halloween!
